Morning pages

Morning pages - the why and the how

All I can say is “… there’s magic in the air” each morning and the magic overflows into midday as I write each morning. So what to write? No matter what you decide, you can make the niceness and freshness of morning last longer.

Here are a few ideas to help you. Pick one or come up with your own:

to begin with morning pages or help with any writer's block or any writing write to coaching@coachkeya.com

this is how I write each morning 🙂 my morning ritual

#1 Things-to-do-today

Write down your list of things to do for the day. Then give them a number depending on urgency. It’s nice to write down when you will get started on each project/task and how long it will take to complete it. If you do not take into account the time factor then it’s just a whim/dream/fantasy. To be a task that you will complete no matter what the priority is, it needs to be tied to time.

#2 Gratitude journaling

List things you are grateful for, today / this morning. When you put paper to pen and bring down things from your mental plane to the physical, you give things in your life a meaning. It is okay to feel gratitude, but expressing them even if it’s only to yourself; adds value to it. The universe takes note of it and sends more good things your way to be grateful for.

# 3 Venting space

Morning pages are also a place for you to vent. Things you worry about and keep you spinning in circles. Once you put them on paper you gift your heart and mind with room to breathe and be. This is a cathartic process. No one else needs to read it. You can later take these sheets and shred them or burn them and flush the ashes in the toilet.

Why morning pages?

Writing your pages by longhand helps you slow down your mind. You can think faster than you speak or write even if it’s the same thought spinning in circles. Speaking slows down your mind to the speed in which you speak. Typing slows your mind even more; writing in longhand slows down your mind the most. If you have not done this, then a mind slowed down will not feel right and you will want to return to your hectic existence. Be patient with yourself and begin the practice of quitting “living life in a hurry”. Take time for a long hug, a slow song and silence; things that brings you closer to peace. It’s your choice to enjoy a gourmet meal or a TV dinner in and out of a microwave.

Writing helps you create your life by choice and not by chance where all you do is react. Would you love to be in control of your life? OR do you love playing the game of life in defense mode; with a come-what-may attitude; you are ready for a good fight? Those who love a good fight or debate increase their blood pressure and get their heart to conk out before time.

I can give you more reasons to engage in your morning pages each morning, maybe later.

For now, loads of love and plenty of blessings,
